At the moment I am putting the finishing touches on my first “who done it” mysteries. I’ve finished a rough draft and am in the revision stage. One thing that won’t be settled until the last moment is the title. It needs to peak insterest without giving away the plot. “The Rusty Kill” is my current working title. Does it peak your interest? Would it get you to read the Amazon summary? If you have any thoughts on the matter, let me know.

I haven’t posted anything on this site for quite awhile. I’ve been working on novels…writing as well as editing/publishing. It was a steep learning curve. The last thing I did was to create a website devoted to the novels I’ve written. The experts say you should do this before you write the novel…..seems backward to me but what do I know? If you are interested, you can take a peek at the site by following this link: https://joeayres.com/
Pronounced “slawn go foyle” and means “Goodbye for now”. I find the phrase quite useful in certain situations. Here’s a link to hear the phrase pronounced in Irish Gaelic by several speakers: https://forvo.com/word/sl%C3%A1n_go_f%C3%B3ill/
“Celtic Knowledge: A Primer” https://www.amazon.com/Celtic-Knowledge-Primer-Joe-Ayres/dp/B09XC27M31 ) introduces an array of Celtic Knowledge. If you have ever wondered what a Claddagh is, you will find it herein. If you have questions about the history of the Celts, you will find an introduction herein. Any interest in Ogham Script? Any interest in heraldry? Coats of Arms? Celtic knots? Wedding traditions? All these and much more are covered in this overview of all things Celtic. If you are looking for a detailed, exhaustive treatment of any of these subjects, you will not find it here. This book covers a lot and does so in a concise, precise fashion with accompanying illustrations when appropriate. This book is available from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BJ9QFLPR/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i3) .
The second generational novel follows Gene Will’s life. Gene lived his entire life in and around Star, Idaho. His early life was beset with teenage angst, as are many of our lives at that stage. He broke out of that but reentered it in many ways due to prohibition and the depression. Find out how Gene copes with his personal as well as society’s demons. The first of the generational novels follows the life of Lillian Wating, born in Penzance, Cornwall, England in 1884. Her life was driven by forces beyond her control (Spanish Flu, women’s suffrage, etc.) and by decisions she made about what role she would play in society. Those decisions were shaped by her personality, her parents’ influence, her sibling’s influence, and the various people she encountered during her life. Join her in her life journey, see if you could handle things as better. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BB83ND2F ).
I wrote “What Now? A Realistic Apocalypse Novel” (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/47515448-what-now-a-realistic-apocalypse-novel) due to conversations I had with people after Trump was elected. They were worried that nuclear war was imminent. Of course, if that happened, we would all be gone, but if an electromagnetic pulse occurred we would be without modern conveniences; an event considered more likely by many. Anyway, I decided to look at it from that perspective. Thus, this novel considers how people would realistically cope if all their electronic gear were rendered inoperable (no electricity, no phone, no cars, no computers, etc.).
The 10th book in the Allen’s Fund series (“Melanie and Allen’s Fund: Another Life Story” https://www.amazon.in/Melanie-Allens-Fund-Another-Story-ebook/dp/B0B5PP7NMB/ref=sr_1_2?qid=1657801699&refinements=p_27%3AJoe+Ayres&s=books&sr=1-2 ) has to do with how a child’s life course is abruptly altered and how family ties work to bring that life back on course.
The ninth book in the Allen’s Fund series alters course considerably (Allen’s Fund: A Life Story book 9 https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/56390440-allen-s-fund?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=fWSNDUq82L&rank=21 ). Book 9 considers the exploitation of children from a child’s point of view and how that exploitation impacts the child’s adult life.
